About Us

OhWaste, a place where we learn to reduce, reuse and recycle. See the second life of old tires, inner tubes, toothbrushes and other rubbish when we turn them into jewelery, bag or a wallet for example. There’s many ways to give them an other life!

OhWaste is a company based in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia which turns used inner tubes, tires, toothbrushes and anything in between into stylish and useful products.

Most of our items are made out of used innertubes,

we also use other stuff that will have the same destiny in the landfill,

but our main focus is on upcycling old tires.

Brief info what´s going on:

Tires, tires, tires.. all kinds of tires. Tires are one of the most common items in landfills
today. They are without a question the leading mode of transportation in whole world and as a
result also a major form of pollution.

It takes thousands of years for a tire of a motorbike/car/truck… to decompose in a landfill.
Tires are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste, due to the large volume
produced and their durability.

When it comes to the world, the problem of scrap tires is far worse in the USA than in Europe.
In the USA, an estimated 300 million tires are disposed of annually, a figure that is
absolutely devastating.

In Indonesia we dont find the real accurate statistics of whole countrys disposal of tires, as
there is none, but we can assure, we´re not any better – in matter of fact we are in similar –
if not worse – scenario as the country has very problematic garbage managment system.

In Indonesia it has become a real problem in local landfills as already only Balinese dump
tons of waste tires into landfills each year, which pollute the waterways and cause a
discernible nuisance as well.

Yet still tires are vital for our lives as the world would literally grind to a halt without
them and it is not simply cars and trucks which would stop, but how many commercial airliners
would be able to land without rubber tires beneath them on the runway. Worldwide, efforts are
underway to address the issue of used tires.

Tires are not biodegradable, so they need to be recycled and repurposed rather than discarded.
Seas of tires still exist in dumps around the globe, but progress is being made in dealing
with the problem.

We here in OhWaste give our effort to change things around. Our mission is to get into core of
it here in our homeland, turning trash from landfill into an artform. We are trying to make
new way for reincarnation of tires. Think globally – act locally.

All products are handmade using no fuel powered machines, just creative hands and even
stronger minds.

Reduce Reuse Recycle! That´s our message to the world.
